RuinsWorld CCG

There are certain things that stick in you mind when you read them online.. one of these for me was a post on RuinsWorld CCG.. I heavily got into Magic wayyyyy back (Revised/Dark era) it took over from my RPGing. It was (and still is) a great game, but I quickly came to realise that it was eating up money faster than I could make it, with no end in sight.. so I gave it away (but kept the cards;). RuinsWorld was one of those small CCG's that was released not long after Magic, and disappeared just as fast. It was limited to the USA I believe, I didn't even hear about it until it was dead and long buried, but it was supposed to be a combination or RPGing and CCG's, and so when I was thinking of what next to collect this popped into my head. The game was supposed to be very hard to collect and there wasn't much info about of on the net, all the better:) I didn't have much luck, I did the usual searches and found some old ebay auctions thats aout all.. and then I stumbled on 7 shrink wrapped decks being sold of a song.. After I received them, I made up a web site, copied the rules and scanned all the cards I had, and away it went. I tried to buy or trade for some more, with no real success. I then stumbled across someone selling a collection of about 8 boosters and this added another 20 odd cards to the collection and gave me cards that I could now trade. I traded with a guy in Australia 3 cards, then I bought 2 packs (gave me 3 cards I didn't have).. and then as luck would have it, someone must have done a search on Ruinsworld and emailed me if I had 2 cards (I had one the other I had traded..always the way). He completed the list of cards missing, emailed me scans and sold me almost all the missing cards at a lot less than I was expecting. He also gave me an email address of a person he had traded with years ago, a quick facebook search and he replied almost immediately. Not only did he have a lot of cards but he still needed 2 cards to finish off his collection (and I had spares of both!) He traded my 2 for the rest I needed. My lucky day! 215 cards is total. Collection complete: time taken 10 months (and most of that was the rush at the end). Probably only 1 of 2 people with a complete collection at the moment..

Collecting dead CCG's are the way to go.. at least there are no "NEW" cards to collect and (usually) you know exactly how many there are.. might give thought to collecting another dead CCG..

Blogging...

I must say that I'm probably not going to be a big blogger.. I don't see the need to post every facet of my life on the Internet for everyone to read about...

Ok... this blog is going to be mainly about my rpg collection (the pen and paper kind, not the video kind)... I'm not going to advertise it at all.. I'm not even got to mention I have a blog.. so that will mean that you have come here (more likely) after doing a search about something that I have mentioned...

I collect rpg's of all kinds.. I love the obscure rare small press sort of stuff.. its hard to find and that makes it all the more fun:). My collection, as it stands, or rather a it sits in storage, is rather large.. something like 6000+ rpg items (I haven't bothered to count), rpg magazine / fanzines / zines (another 4000+ individual issues.. yes there is that many and more that have been printed..), Original RPG artwork (usually original oil painting from peole like Clyde Caldwell, Jeff Easley, Fred Fields, Den Beauvais, Daniel Horne and Keith Parkinson), Australian RPG made stuff (hard to come by and, thankfully, not that much of it)..
